Hyatt Place Greenville SC | Jordan + Michael's Wedding | St James Episcopal Church

Yes I use this word A LOT!!! But we had an "amazing" time photographing Michael & Jordan's wedding. And I have been very blessed to know this family and to be a part of their special day. Their wedding party was a hoot (there's a word you don't hear everyday!) and they kept us laughing and having a good time. The reception didn't let you down either, Better Tie created the uplighting for the event  & their custom monogram for the dance floor, Dave McMillian with Memories by McMillan was the florist, the talented Susan with Willrich Bridal was the coordinator, Hyatt Room 220 was the location for reception, ceremony was at  St. James Episcopal Church and the band was Encore Band. Check out some of their wedding day fun below. Also take a look at her bridal portraits too!

Huguenot Loft Peace Center Wedding | Wyman & Apple Wedding Lighting

Well if anybody knows me they know I love the Christmas season, the cold weather everything. Which is when this wedding was going to take place. So we received a call from Amy Osab with Amy Osaba Event, Floral, Design. from Alanta Georga who was planing a December wedding . She wanted us to help create a high end lighting collection for her clients. We enjoyed working with her and her team at the beautiful Huguenot Loft in downtown Greenville SC. She wanted it to be unquiet and different. We lit up the rafters in the main area where the cocktail hour was with white uplighting that was nestled in the rafters. The lights were wireless controlled so that we could change the colors at any time because the final color had not been decided yet. In the reception area we kept with a very warm white light almost candle color amber for all the uplights and was also controlled wireless. Over the main table was a floral design that we lit and above the bar was an arrangement that we lit as well. And a soft white light for the dance floor.

Take a look at some of the pictures and let us know what you think. Or just give us a call.

Marroitt Pelham Road | George & Foula Wedding Lighting

Foula heard about us through word of mouth in Virgina for our creative uplighting design work. WOW! I didn't know word of mouth traveled so far but what an honor to work with them and their family on their wedding. They came to me with some ideas and we went from there to create something special for them - from uplighting in a candle light color, custom monogram on the dance floor, and a spot light that followed them in for their first dance. The party went from 7pm until 4am everything went great and everyone seamed to have an amazing time. Take a look below and let us know what you think or email us and lets work on your wedding or special event.

What Your Wedding Colors Say About You

I was talking to a bride recently about colors for her wedding. You all know, or should know, that I love lighting and it's one of my passions.  We are actually providing all the mood lighting for the night with uplights and pattern lights on and inside a tent. We also are excited to uplight their pool for cocktail hour. It's going to be beautiful, and I'm excited about creating this wonderful romantic feel for them. Whenever we are working with a couple we try to find out more about them and what colors they are drawn towards. So I thought it would be cool to post this article I found on what your color scheme says about you.

What Your Wedding Colors Say About You

The colors you choose for your big day reflect your personality and style. You can create a sophisticated environment or a whimsical escape. Colors can influence moods and exude sensuality, coziness, earthiness and youthfulness. With tasteful variations from vibrant to pastel and shimmery to matte, your wedding day colors speak volumes about you and what you hold dear. Whether you choose your favorite colors for your wedding or select hues to complement the current season, we have compiled a list of some wedding color choices and what they say about you.

Black: A conservative choice, black complements almost any color, especially lighter hues. Dignified and mysterious, black denotes sexiness and sophistication with a modern twist. Black is classic, never trendy, alluding to a modern bride. As an opulent choice, black is timelessly elegant.

White: Symbolic of purity and innocence, white has strong connotations of youth and perfection. White aficionados seek excellence and enlightenment, as simplicity and recognition are constant ventures. White is a glorious hue (or lack thereof) that denotes a clean palette or fresh start for those who seek serenity and peace.

Red: A passionate, romantic choice, red is impulsive and outgoing. Depicted as zealous and ambitious, red symbolizes love and rage. Whether it denotes joy, celebration, happiness or prosperity, red elicits a dramatic response from both sides of the emotional spectrum. Red lovers tend to be restless and optimistic and go along with people with uncomplicated natures. A powerful selection, red is sure to represent a fiery hostess with 'look at me' flair.

Pink: A softer, girlish choice, pink is the sweeter side of red. A delicate hue, pink represents a sensitive heart that is affectionate and nurturing. The bride surrounded with pink has a maternal grace and compassion and a desire for protection or shelter. The rosy hue fan may also have a strong personality, but one that is willing to share.

Orange: Spontaneous and daring, brides who choose orange are bold. Because orange is a happy and trendy hue, orange enthusiasts tend to be popular, have excessive energy and are part of a large social circle. From a bright and happy backdrop to an exotic, spicy richness, brides who prefer orange tend to be fearless and curious, with a zest for life.

Yellow: The color of a sunny day, yellow denotes happiness and hope. Exuding warmth and vitality and usually possessing a great sense of humor, people who love yellow have cheerful spirits and optimistic values. You tend to look forward to the future and are intellectual, creative and idealistic. Yellow represents enlightenment and spirituality, lending itself as a great color on your day of matrimony.

Green: Green shades symbolize life, freshness, nature and fertility. A common choice for eco-friendly brides, green shows that you value your health and the environment. A harmonized and balanced color, green is a mixture of warm yellow and cool blue, just like its admirers. A calming and tranquil hue, brides who select green are affectionate, frank and responsible. You seek stability and balance, yet remain fiercely principled and refined.

Blue: Soothing, compassionate and cool, blue is the color of tranquility and royalty. Blue belles are deliberate, introspective, conservative and patient, tending to be sensitive and wise. Serene and cool, blue denotes cautious partners who are faithful but require a calm and harmonious existence. From watery aqua to a deep shade of midnight, blue can be soft and sweet or strong and bold.

Purple: Often associated with both royalty and luxury, purple is a passionate color. Choosing purple symbolizes dignity, tolerance and value. Violet lovers tend to be unconventional and observant, with a multifaceted personality. Tolerant and witty, purple devotees are likely to achieve authoritative positions. From light lavender and lilac buffs, who tend to be charming, witty and cultured, to deep eggplant lovers, who are creative and talented, purple can be provocative or sweet.

Brown: A natural, neutral color of the earth, brown represents wholesomeness and dependability. Symbolizing comfort and contentment, brown represents honesty. Just right for your wedding day, brown is substantial, steady and responsible. From rich chocolate and dark coffee to cream and soft beige, this earthy shade can be intense or pale, dramatic or modest.

I will say that you should go with whatever color suits you everybody has their favorites and what you like the most.  As always leave some love and let me know what you think. Tell me what your wedding colors were.

Lighting for Lancia + Westbrook Wedding

Hey Guys!  We have been staying busy but I'm trying to catch up some on our blogs. I'm so excited to tell you about this amazing project that we have been working on. Christine with Faust Events came to me about an exciting wedding and we loved working with her to create a lighting system that worked with a clear tent.

So on Saturday October 20th we had the pleasure of uplighting the Reception of Lancia + Westbrook in downtown Greenville at the new Marriott Courtyard. It was our first time lighting up this location, and the staff was great to work with.

This was a unique job as the bride had colors picked out for the event but when the reception went into full swing she wanted the whole tent to change colors through out the night corresponding with the mood of the music. The tent came alive once the sun set and the lights transformed the ordinary tent into a wash of colors, dancing into the night. We provided both the uplighting for the walls, white over head lights, and lights for the dance floor. Here are a few of the images from the special day.

Lighting the reception for Chris & Tracey

Lighting is a big passion of mine. So when I receive a call or email saying, how can you make this reception site more "us", I get really excited.  And when you take an already beautiful location like The Cliffs Club house, and expound in it. The outcome is amazing. With years of doing off-Broadway lighting, I was able to learn what effects peoples moods and how lighting can transform you from a church gym to a rain-forest feeling, just with lighting. So we were able to work with The Cliffs Club house feeling and make the mood more unique to the bride and groom. -Daniel Yopp

"In preparation for our wedding reception my husband and I perused many wedding magazines- what stood out to us was that the most interesting and warm looking receptions came alive by the addition of professional lighting. Our wedding planner recommended Better Tie Productions in Greenville, South Carolina. It was one of the best recommendations we could of received during our wedding planning. Daniel Yopp made our reception memorable to all that attended with uplighting, wall monogram, highlighting our cake and dance floor. The reception venue said they had never seen the room look better!. Thank you Better Tie Productions... you have our highest praises!"  Tracey Pine (Bride)

(Note: These pictures were take in May at 3pm with no clouds, all  shades open for full room shots. We use high powered LED lights - NOT dj lighting which means even in daylight you can still see the effect.)

My love for lighting

I love lighting!  All my friends and family members make fun of me because if I could ( meaning if my wife would let me) my whole house would be filled with theatrical lighting and every room would have it's own unique scene and emotional feel to it. Ever since I was young I can remember finding and playing with a couple of my dad's theatrical lights that he had.  Then I grew up a little (well in age) and my mom let me set up the Christmas tree one year, and when my parents came home they saw I had a 12' Christmas tree with 3000 Christmas tree lights 6 pin spots around the room shooting towards the tree and a fog machine, that had been wrapped like a present, shooting out the perfect amount a fog for you to see the light rays. Needless to say it didn't stay that way for longer then a day.

Setting them up and  learning how you can direct or audience attention to where ever you desire. It's always intrigued me how a color can change the whole mood of a scene or the way you feel. With that love I grew up involved in off-Broadway performances traveling with productions and learning how to set a scene and loved everything about it.

It's so cool to talk with a bride and groom now about the feel they are going for and helping to transform the room into the escape that they are wanting for their family and friends. It just adds so much to your photos and videos that otherwise you wouldn't have. I'm so glad that I can still get to use the skills that God gave me.

Well, one day you'll drive by my house and yes you will see light rays shooting out the windows like an alien ship had landed in it. You'll know that my wife left me unattended to long and I set up my own lighting scene in the house.

If you would like to add something special to your wedding (and no it will not look like a alien ship) then shoot me an email and lets talk.
